Kiia is a 32-year-old church cantor and organist, in the final trimester of her pregnancy. Her husband Martin is a vicar in the same church. After officiating a wedding, the couple linger for a while at the reception. But on the way home, Kiia feels the onset of labor and speeds as fast as she can to the hospital. Boom. The car hits something. Martin gets out of the car and discovers the body of a man. Believing the man to be dead, he returns to the car and tells Kiia that they’ve hit an elk. At the hospital Kiia undergoes an emergency c-section and gives birth to a healthy baby boy. Before she’s released from the hospital, Kiia meets Hanna, whose husband lies comatose in the same hospital. He was hit by an unidentified driver on a stormy night and was left on the road.
