Four decades of unforgettable sounds
What began as a sauna in Kuopio was converted into a recording studio in 1979. Five years later, Mikko Tegelman took the reins, and Studio Sound went on to carve out its place in Finnish music history. Schlager gave way to roaring guitars, even on Christmas records.
When news of the building's impending demolition broke in 2022, four decades of memories came flooding back. Studio Sound is a heartfelt tribute to a place where recording technology evolved, musicians found their feet and chance encounters sparked countless songs. More than a studio, it was a musical home for generations.
